With various line-ups since 2010, drummer Johnny Hunter (Blind Monk Trio, Nat Birchall Quintet, Sloth Racket) has been exploring the possibilities and challenges afforded by the absence of a harmony instrument. This quartet will be playing original music which exists within the freer, more exploratory side of Jazz. Whilst building on their previous explorations into Middle Eastern approaches to improvisation, they now lean more towards the styles of Henry Threadgill, Ornette Coleman and Joe Harriott.
